The Lumen brief arrived as three words: "calm, smart, quiet." The cylinder was the obvious answer — no edges, no aggression, no directionality. The design challenge was the touch interface: a ring sensor at the base needed to be functional but invisible. The frosted glass diffuser cap went through 8 thickness iterations to find the point where the glow felt like it came from inside the ceramic rather than from a bulb. The product family (S, M, L) was an addition requested mid-project — requiring the design language to hold across a 3× scale range without any element feeling undersized or bloated.
